Under Armour - Managing Editor, Digital Content

Summary

Under Armour’s digital content team is looking for an innovative, highly-organized managing editor to lead a new team at one of the fastest-growing brands in the world. We’re looking for someone to work closely with the Creative Director of Digital Content and the Marketing function to help establish our editorial tone, programming strategy, content development and manage the editorial calendar activities, as well as set our content policies and procedures. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Set the gold-standard in digital storytelling
  • Ensure overall excellence in content production, scheduling, distribution, tagging, and search optimization
  • Develop editorial standards, guidelines and process
  • Be skilled in curating third-party content that fits with the editorial tone and communications platform
  • Hunt down ideas for curated and viral content, and apply SEO and social media best practices 
  • Collaborate across departments and categories to establish process and goals to consistently create compelling content that is relevant and valuable to our fans and serves a business purpose
  • Develop a process, and standard for asset creation across marketing initiatives
  • Work with Partners to secure and develop content
  • Help track and monitor content and distribution budget for the department
  • Lead general editorial calendar and operations
  • Help manage and oversee day-to-day operations for the content team
  • Oversee editorial work-flow and schedule, tracking major sporting events, cultural happenings, breaking news, and special projects
  • Lead the development and brainstorming of new concepts, series, and features
  • Lead and inspire a transformation of thinking to broader, deeper consumer engagement
  • Work with management to identify staffing needs and management structure for a growing team

 

Qualifications

  • Must possess very strong analytic, strategic problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Deep knowledge of editorial style and standards and experience mentoring staff
  • Sense of humor, emotional intelligence, and intellectual curiosity
  • A passion to create and lead transformation, as well as a love of sports
  • Ability to explain why candidate would be a good fit for this position

 

Education and/or Experience                                                    

  • Experience managing people, content, and budgets, ideally at a digital media property, or online publications that works with a variety of content and editorial formats.
