GreatSchools - Marketing Manager

The Role:

GreatSchools is looking for a results-oriented, digital marketing professional to join our team and help us achieve our mission of improving kids’ educational outcomes by inspiring and supporting parents to be their champions. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s online marketing plan to increasing the adoption and use of our digital media products through inbound and outbound marketing initiatives, and provide pre- and post-sales support to our advertising, Local and BD teams. This is a key position within our organization, perfect for a go-getter who is passionate about education and supporting the role of parents in their children’s lives.

Our product portfolio includes consumer-facing products (digital tools and content that help families make informed decisions about where to enroll their children in school and how best to support learning at home), business-facing products (data products aimed at media and real estate verticals), and school-facing products (marketing and recruiting solutions for K-12 schools and school systems). Plenty of variety to keep you energized and challenged!

Strong candidates will be highly collaborative, data-driven decision makers, who work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt easily to change.

This position reports to the Senior Marketing Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify customer pain points, value propositions, competitive differentiators, and develop product positioning statements; create the “voice” of the product to address core user needs
  • Develop and maintain suite of sponsorship and direct ad sales collateral, working closely with the internal Sales, Operations, Product, Research and Creative Services teams
  • Successfully develop and execute marketing campaigns to support new and existing products and provide a more meaningful/valuable experience to our consumers
  • Develop effective marketing materials (one-sheets, whitepapers, case studies/success stories, advertisements, emails, demos, blogs, infographics, webinars, and PPTs)
  • Use analytics to constantly evaluate the ROI of your tactics; experiment through A/B testing, segmentation/targeting; course-correct marketing programs as needed

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • BA / BS
  • 4+ years B2C marketing experience with digital media products or services; media planning, sponsorship packaging and/or ad sales marketing a plus
  • Experience creating a broad range of sales marketing tools, collateral, and programs
  • Experience executing integrated marketing programs across a range of marketing channels, including web, search, email, mobile, social, video, blog, print, webinars, PR events/conferences/tradeshows, etc.
  • Knowledge of parenting, education, and/or crowdsourcing digital media products
  • Experience with third-party research tools like comScore, Quantcast or Survey Monkey
  • Outstanding written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Strong marketing copywriting skills
  • Excellent people skills to interact with other colleagues and cross-functional teams, and third parties, including a range of vendors and partners
