International Data Group - SVP of Data Strategy

IDG Communications’ newly created US Media organization is in the midst of an exciting transformation. To help us grow, we are looking for an entrepreneur-oriented SVP of Data Strategy versed in changing minds, creating opportunities, and leading our business into its next phase of growth.

The SVP of Data Strategy is responsible and accountable for the creation of a new business unit at US Media and will incubate our current data staff and new hires as we build new data solutions for our clients into a new company. The ideal candidate will provide the overall direction and oversight of the strategy, architecture, development, implementation and administration of all strategic data assets. This broad and deep technical and business role requires a next-generation leader who not only has deep technical expertise in data strategy and data management, but can also effectively collaborate with and influence senior business and technical leaders and provide a vision and execute strategies on how the company can differentiate and strategically leverage data as an asset and driver for growth. The ideal candidate is a creative and adaptive thinker who enjoys learning, taking on unfamiliar challenges, and shaping new strategic approaches and operates with a collaborative approach and a ‘can do’ mindset.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for providing the overall direction and oversight of the strategy, development, implementation and administration of all strategic data assets for US Media.
  • Establishes market-leading posture and represents as data expert with external customers and partners as required to deliver upon business objectives.
  • Deep expertise in data strategy, architecture and management with demonstrated ability to communicate and effectively influence business strategies through data assets.
  • Collaborates with senior business and digital and business technology leadership and teams to develop long term plans and objectives, incorporating strong data management.
  • Drives for results-focus and high-performance organization, including developing metrics and continuous improvements programs to deliver transparency and accountability.


Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Demonstrated experience leading aggressive, innovative and next generation data strategies.
  • Thorough knowledge and relationships with data providers and platforms in the data space.
  • Proactive approach to driving creativity and innovation within the organization.
  • Proven track record in hiring top talent for a major tech, business or media brand.
  • Strong verbal and written skills with equally strong presentation/standup skills.
  • Ability to influence a broad spectrum of constituencies, achieving outcomes through influence.
  • Previous experience as an operational executive including P& L responsibility.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in digital and data strategy.
