St. John & Partners - Digital Media Planner

DIGITAL MEDIA PLANNER

Job Description Summary:
The Media Planner builds and presents media recommendations and is responsible for managing all day to day traditional and digital media strategy, planning and buying for assigned accounts. They collaborate with Account Management, creative and social teams as well as, other members of the media team in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. They are experts at analyzing data, thinking creatively and coming up with traditional and innovative new media strategies to ensure paid media campaigns reach the right target audience at the right time in the most effective and efficient way for our clients.
Core Duties:
  • Conduct and supervise media research and analysis using all available tools
  • Prepare well thought-out, strategic, and fact-based, media recommendations and plans that effectively utilize research tools and advanced media concepts
  • Present media recommendation and plans to agency associates and to clients, as required, in a professional, confident, persuasive manner.
  • Evaluate media proposals and provide POV’s and media analyses for all forms of paid media including broadcast TV, cable, radio, OOH, print, sponsorships, digital media including display, video, mobile, social, native, etc.
  • Negotiate with media sales reps
  • Train, coach, and supervise assigned Assistant Media Planner(s)
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of all campaign documentation including insertion orders, trafficking sheets, specs, and terms.
  • Create and distribute buy guidelines and buy specs for all broadcast buys to the buying team
  • Review broadcast buys, post summary reports, and other deliverables, from the broadcast buys
  • Plan and place paid digital campaigns including video, display, paid social, mobile, search and other new media tactics
  • Collaborate with creative and digital teams to ensure thorough understanding of digital plans
  • Work with ad server on digital campaign trafficking QA and implementation
  • Work with ad server and digital team to accurately set up tagging and reporting requirements
  • Propose optimization recommendations in partnership with Analytics if necessary
  • Deliver concise and accurage digital reports in a timely manner that include insights and implications for future campaigns
  • Resolve media invoices and discrepancies
  • Demonstrate highly organized campaign/timeline management, with strong attention to detail

Accounts/Clients/Assigned To:
Florida Prepaid & Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)- Planning all traditional and extensive digital advertising
Required : Qualifications/Experience/Skill Set:
  • At least 2-3 years working experience at the Media Planner or Assistant Media Planner level in an advertising agency, media services company, or company media department with significant online advertising experience
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Close attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and collaborative working style
  • Ability to manage many projects and work in a very fast paced environment
  • Proficient with MS Excel and Power Point
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of media research sources and tools including: MRI, Nielsen, SRDS, comScore, Telmar, AdWords, etc.
  • Familiar with working with an ad service such as Sizmed, DART, Flashtalking, etc.
  • Experience planning paid social media campaigns on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.
  • Google Certification
  • “Self-starter” with ongoing interest in industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies and media tactics
Education Required:
  • College degree
