PubMatic - Director, Platform Sales

The Director, Platform Sales is responsible for working in partnership with the other regional Directors to facilitate the business needs of existing and potential clients by building and maintaining advertising revenue against established revenue targets within list of target accounts and/or identified regional coverage.  Expectations are that this revenue generating sales professional will strive to exceed revenue targets through active strategic selling, account support, program implementation and managing program terms and expectations for existing and potential clients. The best candidates will demonstrate a desire to engage directly with clients via telephone or in-person, and have a strong bias towards action and tendency towards cross team/function collaboration and partnership.

Successful candidates will exhibit the competence to manage through obstacles by taking charge of challenging situations and delivering positive client-focused resolutions. The Director will be required to effectively communicate at multiple levels from mid-level to executive, both internally and externally by building constituents maps.  Internally, the role requires collaboration with: Ad Operations, Publisher Sales, DSP Management and Engineering teams. The Director will be focused on the overall growth and success of the client, their team and PubMatic as a whole.

The Director, Platform Sales will report to the VP of Global Agency Relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and protect account market share and grow territory/account revenue and AUM to meet and exceed goals
  • Consultative and strategic sales partner for Demand partner business growth
  • Be holistic account growth and optimization leader responsible for understanding proactive media packaging of publisher opportunities & needs, as well as campaign management.
  • Partner in the development of account and territory strategies for long term business growth
  • Secure strategic level relationships with client contacts within the account list or territory region
  • Regularly secure client meetings to further sales objectives with clients/agency contacts
  • Constant monitoring and analysis of program progress and performance
  • Produce frequent and regular account status updates through written and verbal communication
  • Coordinate with and direct account coordinator in resolving territory maintenance issues
  • Accurate and timely communication to manager of all relevant information regarding revenue and or Demand partner relationships
  • Expert level understanding of the PubMatic platform capabilities and their value proposition for partners
  • Translate the value proposition to drive business growth and revenue with Demand partners
  • Find areas within the account where PubMatic can offer consultative solutions or upsell opportunities including RTB solutions, Publisher Media Sales, mobile/video, rich media & other emerging product opportunities.
  • Be a team player with a keen understanding for internal cross-functional & international communication/collaboration across multiple operational teams within PubMatic.
  • Attend appropriate industry events, conferences to effectively network and grow your industry knowledge.
  • Responsible for quarterly business reviews, monthly in person working sessions with accounts and numerous client engagements/phone calls per week.
  • Reaching or exceeding quarterly revenue goals.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years in a lead/managerial sales or business development role in the online industry, specifically from an Ad Network, Exchange, DSP, Agency Trading Desk or Agency/Media Sales.
  • BA/BS degree required, MBA/JD a plus
  • Strong knowledge of ad serving technology, ad networks and the online advertising industry in general.
  • Strong knowledge of Internet advertising pricing models, advertising optimization, audience trends and technologies.
  • Proficiency in Excel and spreadsheets with working knowledge of CRM platforms.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, with a proven ability to convey data and analysis strategically to drive more business.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Capacity to work well with teams including sales, marketing, business development, product management and engineering.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Creative, independent problem solver.
  • Strong process, management and analytical skills.
  • Flexible, start-up mindset with proven success in fast-paced environments with ability to multi-task.
