National Sleep Foundation - Director, Digital Media and Content

 The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) is the worldwide leader dedicated to improving health and well-being through sleep education and advocacy. It sets the global agenda for sleep health promotion.

 

The National Sleep Foundation seeks a highly motivated individual for the Director, Digital Media and Content position. The Director, Digital Media and Content is responsible for creating and directing plans and strategies related to NSF’s top-rated website www.sleepfoundation.org, which receives 2 million visitors monthly, and other NSF digital assets. In addition, the Director, Digital Media and Content is accountable for developing and executing content strategies, and for managing and collaborating with a team of internal and external stakeholders and contractors involved in the production and publishing of NSF content. The Director, Digital Media and Content reports to the Vice President, Publishing.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute strategy, creation and management of digital assets across all platforms (desktop, mobile, tablet, email, etc.) from website to digital advertising, from app to SEO opportunities

  • Determine and manage projects’ overall digital requirements, including budget, oversee the digital asset production processes, and ensure that the team aligns on content objectives, assumptions, risks, and success factors

  • Measure and evaluate outcomes and provide actionable recommendations for improved performance

  • Present regular multi-platform analytics reports to the leadership team

  • Manage and maintain editorial control, discipline and standards; create/improve upon the writing style and narrative authoritative voice of NSF content

  • Create and maintain standards, policies and procedures for NSF digital properties and ensure its adherence by external and internal teams

  • Participate in decisions that involve resource planning and management, content management technology purchases, and other operational considerations

  • Establish and cultivate critical relationships with external (contractors in IA, SEO, social media, IT, etc.) and internal teams to execute digital program activations, such as special projects and annual campaigns

  • Collaborate with project leads to examine and analyze the content "ecosystem" -internal and external factors - during the project discovery phase

  • Gather, audit, and analyze existing content relevant to project requirements

  • Develop and execute a social media strategy and calendar to increase visibility, traffic and engagement to grow the NSF community across digital channels, including leading the brand’s presence on social media

  • Develop, lead, and motivate direct and indirect reports

 

Job requirements, include but not limited to:

  • 4-6 years of experience in digital marketing or content management, including project management, website usability and analytics

  • Experience with implementing, measuring, and optimizing SEO, native content strategies and content syndication

  • Experience with web languages/coding and platforms, such as WordPress, Drupal and Expression Engine

  • Excellent oral, written and communications skills

  • Strong proofreading, editing and copywriting skills

  • Proven ability to guide web development, management and publishing processes and standards

  • Record of success balancing strategic, analytical, creative, budgetary and operational efforts

  • Experience with content syndication and managing an emerging brand in the online space

  • Experience in optimizing utilization and resource allocation of external and internal teams

  • Ability to create and implement strategy in a hands-on manner

  • Strong project management skills, highly organized and analytical with strong attention to detail, excellent record keeping skills and an ability to multitask effectively

  • Excellent collaborative skills and ability to interface across organizational levels and cultures

  • BA degree in marketing, computer science or equivalent

  • Must have legal right to work in the US
