What We’re Looking For

The Media Coordinator role is an entry-level position. This position assists the entire media team in putting together Out-of-Home (OOH) media plans and recommendations. Coordinators may work on media plans under Director’s supervision or alongside senior team members.

Responsibilities

Client Role:

  • Valuable contributor and student of the marketing and planning process
  • Fiscally responsible for client media budgets
  • Team support, participation and contribution; supporting vendor contact

Planning / Buying Role:

  • Supports and participates in plan development
  • Provides support for media recommendations
  • Develops media plan writing skills
  • Assists, compiles and coordinates all elements of a plan - insertion orders (IO) / buy specs, billing process, invoices, budgets, flowcharts
  • Coordinates with production, traffic and buying teams to ensure smooth transition of the execution phases of the plan
  • Helps in media research for current clients and new business projects

Idea Generation:

  • Offers opinions and ideas for growing the department and client business
  • Up to date with media trends and changing landscape
  • Shares and contributes creative ideas and learns to incorporate all functions and formats of OOH
  • Observes, listens, asks questions and learns
  • Encouraged to seeking career growth and opportunities
  • Contributes to team and department growth and success

Communication:

  • Gives and receives honest and constructive project updates
  • Learns and observes media partner etiquette
  • Maintains strong media relationships
  • Abides by media vendor communication standards

Basic Job Criteria: 

  • Learn, utilize and embrace the planning and development process
  • Establishes, facilitates and incorporates the billing process to ensure seamless transition from development stages to execution of the plan
  • Develops the ability to negotiate with media partners
  • Ensures that all client needs are met throughout the coordinating and planning process
  • Keeps planners / team informed of tasks
  • Ability to take direction and maintain consistent quality of projects and responsibilities

Qualifications, Ideal Talents, & Special Requirements

  • Four-year degree required in advertising, media, or related field (internship preferred)
  • 0 -1 year media planning / buying experience
  • Familiar with media terminology and industry landscape
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for the business with a consistent and detail oriented fashion
  • Shows initiative, drive and focus
  • Displays excellent organization skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and learn time management
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and pressure
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, presentation, etc.
  • Advanced in use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Silent Partner, SBMS, Mac experience preferred
  • Mastered basic media math – strong quantitative and analytical skills including working with budgets, percentages, analysis, etc.
  • Team orientation – can take direction and follow instructions
  • Independent and self-motivated, yet also team-oriented
  • Capable of receiving constructive feedback and actively working on industry trends to incorporate in future presentations and plans
  • Positive, enthusiastic and professional
  • Demonstrates core values, desired competencies and behaviors at all times

Salary: $32,000/year
