We are seeking a smart, motivated National Broadcast Buyer to work on some really cool stuff. If you’re energetic, quick on your feet and ready to work with a dynamic group, we want to hear from you.

Leadership:

• Provide the networks with direction regarding the needs of your account(s)
• Be proactive and show initiative in getting the most value for the client’s budget
• Serve as the main point of contact on all media activity on your account(s)
• Able to interact well with the media team, our partner agencies and media representatives
• Oversee the training and development of Broadcast Assistants (shared with Supervisors)
• Act as a mentor to the assistants
• Develop and maintain an understanding of assigned accounts’ marketing objectives

Business Character:

• Needs to be confident and out-going
• Needs to build and foster relationships; this is significant to this position
• Must be fair and honest in negotiations (a buyer’s reputation is extremely important)

Strategic Thinking: 

• Develop ideas to help meet media objectives with strategic purchases and buys
• Ensure that assigned teams are familiar with the national marketplace
• Develop an understanding of clients’ marketing objectives

Creativity: 

• Develop ideas for “stand out” promotions and sponsorships
• Must think of strategies that are “outside the box” that can ensure added value.
• Seeks out new opportunities for clients

• Seeks out opportunities to educate all members of the team including clients and creative partners

• Keeps supervisor informed of his/her progress

• Meets and exceeds the responsibilities of a Network Buyer

• Articulates verbal and written perspective in a logical and persuasive manner, in both formal and informal situations

• Conducts oneself with the poise and demeanor of a highly skilled professional
• Demonstrates the ability to effectively motivate, manage and support subordinates

• Occasionally travels to supported markets or client events
• May supervise the work of Assistant Media personnel and/or Media Planner/Buyer

Requirements (must haves):

• Minimum 2-3 years of National Broadcast buying experience; agency experience strongly preferred
• Willing to jump in “Feet First” and hit the ground running
• Ability to communicate written and verbal messages quickly, effectively and intelligently
• Strong mathematical abilities and attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and keep others on track
• Proficient in STRATA, SQAD, SRDS, etc.
• Strong presentation skills preferred
• Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in marketing, advertising, communications, or related field
