You can't keep up with everything that is going on in social media, but you can try. I have my regular sources and favorite books, some of which I mention below. My list is by no means exhaustive, and is meant to be interactive -- so please add your suggestions in the comments.
The blogs: http://www.thelongtail.com, www.mashable.com, www.techcrunch.com, http://publishing2.com/, www.paidcontent.org, http://news.cnet.com/the-social/, www.avc.com (Fred Wilson), http://adweek.blogs.com/, http://web-strategist.com/blog/
The staples: Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Businessweek, Wired.
The trade pubs: MediaPost (of course), Ad Age, iMedia, Adweek.
Because social media marketing can learn so much from search: www.Battellemedia.com
For what the kids are up to: www.Ypulse.com
Best clipping service: www.iwantmedia.com
And a couple of books for good measure: "Greater Good: How Good Marketing Makes For Better Democracy," for what marketing can and should be. "Competing on the Edge: Strategy as Structured Chaos" -- more general strategy for business, but the best strategy book since Porter, and has tons of implications for today's marketer. "Sway: The Irresistible Pull of Irrational Behavior" -- nothing like taking a little time to understand people's motivations.
And, of course, my Twitter feed. A lot of smart people "micro-blogging" their every thought.
This is just a sampling, and like any good consumer of media 2.0, I will follow the links to the stories that keep me informed. What are you favorites?

iwantmedia.com
I have it delivered to my Inbox each morning. Me likey.
I also see a lot of the Hollywood one, beacuse SocialVibe's HQ is in West Hollywood.
I also like my daily news e-mails from the WSJ's www.AllThingsD.com, www.blogherald.com and www.widgetslab.com...the last one because I'm a total nerd for widgets.
:)
Have you heard of the OPML project? http://www.opml.org/
It is a project that created a basic data format for sharing Reading Lists, just like you've done here. One example is available at:
http://bcmoney-mobiletv.com (When you click the orange link you get an RSS News Reader where you can create your own news feeds, requires a one-time copy & paste of your favorite sites' RSS feed, but going to work on providing a clickable list)
You can see the reading list it creates here: http://bcmoney-mobiletv.com/bryan (click on the blue Reading List icon, then View Source to see what the format looks like)
Then you can share your reading lists on any sites that support OPML (most who deal with regularly updated news feeds will add this feature based on user demand, since it just requires adding a single file to their servers and pointing a link to it).
Sorry, not trying to do any shameful self-promotion, just wanted to provide an example of how OPML works to share your reading lists, without you having to manually compile a list like this everytime you want to update/share it. I did not create OPML, but I certainly see the usefulness of it for sharing reading lists across all the sites you visit.
Anyway keep up the good work, your newsletters always make for an interesting read.
Cheers,
Bryan
However, there a few "must-haves" that you should have in your bag when working with clients (I do!), they are:
- Meatball Sundae: Godin - Marketing to the Social Web: Weber - Now is Gone (Primer): Livingston - The Perfect Store (Story of eBay): Cohen - Smart Startups: Silver (a meaningless plug as my work was featured)
