| Web Sites Poised For Record Breaking Election Day Traffic |

Web sites like CNN.com and NYTimes.com are expecting record traffic, Reuters reports, as consumers across the nation monitor the progress of today's Presidential election. CNN is predicting more than a billion page views on its Web site after expanding its coverage to include a "Your Races" feature, which follows even the most remote Congressional contests and state ballot measures.
The New York Times, which topped all newspaper sites with 20 million visitors in September, according to the report, is also expecting record traffic today. Jim Roberts, associate managing editor of the publication, said the Web site has come a long way since the 2004 election. "Our imagination is bigger and our tool box is much bigger," Roberts said.
Cable news channel Current TV, which relies on user video submissions through the Web, is taking a uniquely social approach to its Election Day coverage. The company is partnering with social networking sites Digg and Twitter to provide news content throughout the day. CEO Joel Hyatt said the Current TV screen would be crowded with text and video uploaded and chosen by Web users. "The public is generally quite turned off by what is now conventional political coverage," Hyatt said. "It is punditry that is strident, partisan and really unappealing and what the public wants is to be part of the conversation."
