Volkswagen Expands Deal With Verizon Center

  • March 30, 2009
Volkswagen of America, Inc. is expanding its position as presenting automotive sponsor of the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. As part of the expanded presence, the fourth-floor seating section will now be officially called the "Penthaus" -- a play off Volkswagen's Teutonic campaign. At the venue, home to the Washington Wizards, Capitals, Mystics and Georgetown Hoyas -- Volkswagen will also have an "Innovation Station" educational exhibit, and a "Max's Lounge" for corporate hospitality events, as well as the "TDI Victory Box," an exhibit of VW's motorsports properties. The Verizon Center will bow the Volkswagen exhibits in advance of this Saturday's title night as the Wizards take on the Detroit Pistons. Installations will be completed in time for the NHL Playoffs.

The company says the Volkswagen Penthaus will incorporate a blue and white color scheme and branded sections highlighting the 2009 full lineup of Volkswagen models. A section of the concourse area in the Penthaus will host the TDI Victory Box; Max's Lounge -- formerly Coke Theater -- will be open by reservation. --Karl Greenberg
