Isobar Opens Social Media Unit

Isobar North America announced Thursday that it has created a new social media practice, headed by Isobar VP of Social Media Gary Stein.

The company will offer this service across its network of agencies in North America which include: Ammo Marketing, Freestyle Interactive, Molecular, iProspect, Mindblossom, bluestreak and Carat.

"(Stein) will aggregate the network's offering of 'social practices' into a holistic social marketing service solution," said Aegis Media North America CEO Sarah Fay in a statement. "Clients are realizing that it is time to stop dabbling in social media. More and more they are realizing the need for a true strategy that harnesses the voice of the consumer throughout their communication strategies."

Stein previously led the strategy departments for Ammo Marketing and Freestyle Interactive (both Isobar units). Prior to joining the Isobar network, Stein was the senior advertising analyst at Jupiter Research, where he covered interactive and traditional advertising as well as the emerging worlds of search and social media. Stein has also worked at agencies, including Red Sky Interactive and has appeared on NPR, CNN and in numerous publications. He currently writes the Digital Trends column for Clickz, and runs a Tweetcast focused on social media at www.twitter.com/socialmediafact.

"2009 is definitely the year that social media becomes a core part of marketing and advertising, as well as the host of other business functions," Stein said in a statement. Forrester Research reports that 75% of marketers will increase their social media budget this year.
