MSNBC.com (www.msnbc.com) is the number one news site for the month of February, according to the most recent data compiled by Media Metrix. MSNBC.com maintained its standing, held since January 1999, as the primary source for news on the Internet with a significant lead over the competition in the combined Home/Work audience.

10.4 million unique users logged on to MSNBC.com during the month of February for breaking news coverage on stories such as the Seattle earthquake and the Anna Kournikova computer virus. Internal measurements noted that more than 3.4 million unique users came to MSNBC.com in one day for up-to-the-minute news on the earthquake and that 1.5 million people watched earthquake video streams. The day of the Anna Kournikova virus saw 3.2 million unique users according to an internal measurement. The days in which the Seattle earthquake and Kournikova virus hit are now among MSNBC.com's top 20 days.
