'Urinal Test' Hits No. 1 in App Store

  • May 27, 2009
Who knew choosing the right place to pee could prove so popular? The "Urinal Test" app, a game challenging players to select the "right" public urinal depending on which others are occupied, has hit No. 1 among free apps in Apple's App Store. That's no small feat, considering it technically applies to only half the population.

The app was launched last month by Hachette Book Group USA to help promote the release of "The Man's Book: The Essential Guide for the Modern Man" by Thomas Fink. The lifestyle guide includes advice on choosing the proper urinal, among other vital tips for guys.

Lily Gold, founder of New York-based technology firm Intuwin, which developed the "Urinal Test" app, said it has been getting well over 100,000 installs a day lately. What about the book? It ranked 2,690 in sales on Amazon as of Monday. Then again, it's not free. --Mark Walsh
