Amazon Debuts Outdoor Store With Park Passes

  • July 15, 2009
Amazon is launching an Outdoor Recreation Store, a single shopping destination for gear and clothing.

"Evidence is emerging that outdoor enthusiasts and casual adventurers alike are turning to outdoor recreation activities now more than ever," the Seattle-based e-tailer says, and it's using a "365 Days of Adventure" promotion to kick off the new department.

For a limited time, shoppers who spend $299 or more will get a free National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass - an $80 value, good for one year, and valid at more than 2,000 federal parks. It will also allow customers to pre-order the DVD set of the forthcoming Ken Burns PBS documentary, "The National Parks - America's Best Idea." --Sarah Mahoney
