A day after news circulated that Paris-based holding company Publicis' interest in acquiring digital agency Razorfish from Microsoft was waning, the
Wall Street Journal this morning reported
that Publicis actually is "in the lead" to buy the shop. Citing unnamed sources, the paper said Publicis was one of "at least two" of the world's top agency holding companies to have made bids for
Razorfish, the other being Japan's Dentsu. The Journal said that while Dentsu's bid was higher than the $500 million to $600 million offered by Publicis, an aspect of the deal hinges on the buyer's
commitment to purchase hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising from Microsoft.
