Naming Names: The 10 Worst Green Brand Handles

In the wake of the announcement of the naming of the Nissan Leaf last week, design editor Alissa Walker conferred with design bloggers Valerie Casey and Stuart Karten to come up with the 10 worst names affixed to "green" products over the years since the first Earth Day. As anyone who has ever been part of a committee of two glancing at a "baby names" book can attest, the art of picking the right appellation can easily become an exercise in bureaucratic mayhem and mishap.

Take BabyGanics, for example. Please. Walker says it was "created by two dads who couldn't stand filth, but obviously couldn't stand the English language either." But Karten points out that it could be worse. The second choice was "OrganBaby."

How about Pepsi Natural? It's "an excellent laxative to pass your McMeal," says Casey. Then there's the TruGreen ChemLawn company, to which Karten gives "two green thumbs down." Fun piece, and you're invited to contribute your own clinkers to the list.
