Ripley Heads Current Media Ad Sales

Ken Ripley of Veteran TV and mediaMore executive changes were announced at Current Media, home of the Current TV cable news network founded by Al Gore.

Veteran TV and media sales executive Ken Ripley has been named executive vice president of advertising sales for Current Media. Ripley has held positions selling national cable, satellite, network, syndication, interactive television and VOD.

Most recently, he was executive vice president of global advertising sales for IGA Worldwide, the major in-game advertising company, making deals with more than 100 companies for messaging that is inserted into video games.

Before that, he was vice president of sales development for Discovery Communications and national sales manager for Discovery's Emerging Network group.

Ripley was also vice president of advertising sales for TiVo, helping to launch TiVovision, an interactive television system for on-demand messaging for advertisers. A longtime ad vet, he held posts at Columbia TriStar, where he worked on DirecTV's and Game Show Network's ad sales efforts.

Mark Rosenthal assumed the position of CEO of Current Media last month. He had been CEO of Interpublic Media and president/COO or MTV Networks.

Recently, Current TV made big headlines when two of its reporters were released after being detained by North Korea for five months. Current TV is now in 60 million cable and satellite TV homes.
