Responding To Criticism, Kodak Runs Naming Contest

Hiawatha Bray praised Kodak's new Zi8 pocket video camera in a review last week but she also referred to the droid-like name as "dreadful" and "lame." She apparently was not alone, she informs us this week.

"We've heard a lot of feedback about our pocket video cameras. People love them, but hate the names," says Kodak CMO Jeff Hayzlett. So, after reading Bray's story, the marketing team decided to "ask the public what they'd like to see."

A contest is aborn! And consultancy fees are avoided!

You can make your suggestion here or tweet @JeffreyHayzlett, with the hashtag #nameAKodak. Kodak is awarding Zi8 cameras to 100 contestants, chosen at random. The writer of the winning submission gets a trip to Las Vegas to attend the unveiling of the new camera.
