Samsung Focusing On Digital Cameras With $50 Million Campaign

Samsung is making its presence known in the digital camera market in a big way this fall -- and we're not only referring to the gorilla in one spot who snaps his or her own picture with a DualView camera that features display screens on both the front and back. We're talking 50 million smackers for a yearlong TV, print and online campaign that rolls out Sept. 17, reports Laurie Burkitt.

The camera is targeted toward teens who photograph themselves for uploads to social networking sites, as well as to parents who may appreciate the camera's child-friendly features, according to Reid Sullivan, vp of digital imaging marketing.

Sullivan says Samsung is aiming to gain a 20% market share in the U.S. by 2012, up from its current 6%. "With everyone -- kids and parents -- uploading photos these days, we had no decision but to jump further into the market," he says. Read the whole story at Forbes CMO Network »
