Neo@Ogilvy Wins Sony Europe Search Business

  • September 18, 2009
Sony Europe has contracted Neo@Ogilvy UK to handle its European Search business. Previously OMD Europe [AOR] had the Sony Europe account, worth $500m at the time it won the business in 2002.

Recently, after a two-week competitive pitch, which brought the agency head-to-head against two other leading search agencies, Neo@Ogilvy came out on top. Now, it will manage search campaigns for the BRAVIA product range across 29 European markets, with Richard Wheaton as the UK managing director, and Sophie Collins, agency head of search. Wheaton believes that the recent success signifies the company's understanding of Sony's needs, which stems from their "work with their online shop over the past three years." Christian Luecke, director of Consumer Marketing TV & Online Marketing, Sony said, "Neo@Ogilvy has demonstrated a real understanding of the needs of our brand and are already getting significant results in support of our search marketing campaigns. We have identified Search as a key step in the customer journey, from initial consideration and research through to detailed purchasing decisions. Search is now a central part of our communication mix." --Amanda Domurad
