Video Networks, TWC Adcast Deliver Spots to Cable Headends
Nov 29, 2000, 12:40 PM
At the Western Cable Show today, Video Networks Inc. (VNI) announced that it has signed an agreement with Time Warner Cable Adcast to deliver advertising and other content in a digital format to headends throughout North Carolina. VNI's interactive media management service enables cable ad sales offices to distribute commercials more efficiently and get them on air more quickly. VNI's system provides reliable, all-digital transport of encoded spots between cable ad sales offices, interconnect offices and headends. The system transmits digital content to the local headends via a hybrid satellite/DVB/VSAT IP multicast network directly into the digital ad insertion gear. In addition, VNI monitors the system remotely on a 24/7 schedule. More than just a spot delivery service, the system's intuitive Java interface allows users to schedule spots for distribution, confirm or change distribution priority, track and confirm distribution progress, with the option to archive spots for future use.
Time Warner Cable Adcast offers advertising on cable systems in the Carolinas, including Charlotte, Fayetteville, Wilmington, Greensboro and Raleigh. The interconnect serves 1.3 million cable households. VNI will provide Adcast with complete end-to-end management of spot delivery to nearly 40 sites. VNI, as a full-service provider, will manage the application and the bandwidth for Time Warner Cable Adcast.
