Journal Register Company has entered into an agreement to sell The Times Reporter, located in New Philadelphia, Ohio, and The Independent, in Massillon, Ohio, to The Copley Press, Inc. Total daily
circulation of the two newspapers is 38,000. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close early in the first quarter of 2001, subject to obtaining
Hart-Scott-Rodino approval. The Company will retain its award-winning Cleveland-area newspaper operations, The News-Herald in Lake County, Ohio, and The Morning Journal in Lorain, Ohio.
