  • December 4, 2000
(broadcastingcable.com) -- On the heels of their split sweeps win, NBC and ABC did the identical dance on Thursday night. An NBC lineup of repeats pounded out a resounding victory among adults 18-49, but the mouse squeaked past the peacock among total viewers. NBC hit a 7.8 rating, 20 share among the 18-49 crowd in fast Nielsen numbers, over ABC's 5.5/14. E.R. led the way, as usual, with an 8.2/21. "Friends" hit an 8.4/23, with "Will & Grace" at an 8.2/20 and "Just Shoot Me" at 7.9/19. "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?" rang up 20.1 million viewers, while Primetime Thursday drew 17 million viewers with a 6.1/16. Fox's Britney Spears special flagged with a 2.5/7, as did N'Sync at 2.6/7. But CBS's "Diagnosis Murder" was most dead on arrival at 2.0/5, a season-long trend suggesting its departure may be imminent.
