Real Media to Sell Ads in Netscape 6

  • December 5, 2000
Real Media, a global Internet advertising technology and representation company, and Alis Technologies, a provider of integrated language management solutions announced today that Real Media will provide exclusive worldwide ad sales on the interface of "Gist-In-Time(TM)," the AutoTranslate feature in the recently launched Netscape 6 browser. Open AdStream, the proprietary ad management solution from Real Media, will target, manage, and track all advertising impressions across the interface.

The AutoTranslate feature in Netscape 6 allows people to read and understand the content of foreign language Web pages in their own language. This service, available for the first time from a browser, is included as a free service. When users click on "Translate" from the "View" menu in Netscape 6 an interstitial comes up with language choices, other instructions and two banner ads. When the translated page appears, the content will be framed and topped by a third banner ad, which will also appear in the language selected by the user. Real Media will sell and serve all three ads.
