USATODAY.com Reports Record Traffic

  • December 11, 2000
For the fourth consecutive month, USATODAY.com, the No. 1 newspaper site and a leading general interest news site on the Internet, experienced record-breaking traffic.

USATODAY.com reports more than 263 million page views in the month of November -- representing a 74% increase in year-over-year traffic and breaks the previous record of 231 million page views set in October 2000. The increase in November traffic was primarily driven by USATODAY.com's comprehensive Election 2000 coverage.

Other contributing traffic drivers included USATODAY.com's coverage of the NFL and college basketball. USATODAY.com hit an all-time peak traffic day on November 8, the day after elections, with 15.8 million page views.

The previous record was set one day prior, on Election Day, November 7, with 13.6 million page views.
