A cause marketing effort by Sara Lee Deli seeks to attract new Twitter followers while also fighting hunger.

During National Sandwich Day on Nov. 3, Sara Lee Deli will donate $1 per Twitter follower -- up to $25,000 -- to Share Our Strength, an organization devoted to ending childhood hunger in the U.S. by 2015. (The maximum amount is the equivalent of 16,500 sandwiches.)

To raise awareness of the campaign, the brand will be using #sldeli and #delidifference hash tags to spread the word among the Twitter community. Followers will be encouraged to re-tweet campaign messages to maximize the viral effect.

Sara Lee Deli's Facebook fan page will feature discussions, polls, interactive tools and conversations about the charity and its cause. Fans and visitors will also have the opportunity to learn the seven steps to creating an award-winning sandwich, from Sara Lee chefs, and read tips and fun facts related to National Sandwich Day.

Once followers are connected with @SaraLeeDeli on Twitter, they will have access to sandwich recipes, kitchen tips and coupon offers throughout the year.
