Comcast-NBC: No Rival To ESPN But Interactive Gains

Comcast executives said they will not try to turn their Versus cable channel into a rival to ESPN after their joint venture with NBC Universal clears, notes Multichannel News. NBC Sports will add to what Versus and Golf and Comcast Sports Nets are doing. Comcast COO Steve Burke says interactive is a big area in the merger; Comcast's own interactive advertising initiatives with the Canoe consortium could be spread across NBCU properties.
