Report: Reed To Sell Variety, Shutter Other Titles

Less than a month after Nielsen agreed to sell media trade magazines such as The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard and Adweek, rival B-to-B publisher Reed Elsevier reportedly is in advanced talks to sell some of its trade publications, including Hollywood stalwart Variety. Other titles may be closed, according to a report by Reuters citing an internal Reed Elsevier staff memo citing the impact the economic recession has had on its trade publishing business.
