Home Depot To Cut 1,000 Employees

Add Home Depot to the layoff list: The Atlanta-based home improvement chain will reportedly lay off 1,000 employees, the result of consolidating some corporate functions, as well as closing several pilot projects.
The chain, which has been especially punished by the weak real estate market, reported a decline of 6.9% in comparable-store sales back in its third quarter back in November, its most recent quarterly results.--Sarah Mahoney
