Lotame Solutions has opened a research and development office in Cambridge, Mass., appointing John Thomas as R&D director to oversee operations. Thomas, an expert in machine learning and data mining,
will advance the use of social data to improve online marketing. Thomas comes to Lotame from Crimson Hexagon where he designed, implemented, and maintained several core components in the company's
VoxTrox suite of social media analytics tools. Thomas graduated from Gettysburg College with a dual degree in computer science and mathematics, and went on to focus research on modeling evolutionary
constraints on protein families. He developed algorithms to identify and encode these constraints to assist protein analysis, classification and design. --
