Microsoft: We Do, Too, Innovate!

On Thursday, The Times ran an op-ed by Dick Brass, in which the former Microsoft VP harshly criticized the software giant for loosing its innovative mojo. Microsoft's official response? "Obviously," blogs Frank Shaw, Corporate Vice President of Corporate Communications at Microsoft, "we disagree. :)" Like a 3rd Grade homework assignment, Shaw goes on to explain what "innovation" means to Microsoft.

"At the highest level, we think about innovation in relation to its ability to have a positive impact in the world," he writes. "For Microsoft, it is not sufficient to simply have a good idea, or a great idea, or even a cool idea ... We measure our work by its broad impact."
