Hess is launching an online contest for residents of 12 Eastern states to win up to a year's worth of free gas.

No purchase is necessary, and contestants can enter once a day through March 31 by registering online at www.hessexpress.com. Contestants are eligible to instantly win a $50 Hess gas card and receive special offers. All contestants will be automatically entered to win the grand prize -- free gas for a year awarded as a $2,000 Hess gas card. During the contest, 21 winners will receive the $50 Hess gas cards. The drawing for one grand prize winner will take place in early April.

The Hess Gas Giveaway is open to adults in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Vermont. --Tanya Irwin
