Nielsen Ratings Go To The Ball Game

  • by July 18, 2001
Not since the NBA Finals has sports programming topped the weekly Nielsen list, but this week it's back with a boom, or a home run perhaps, as the Major League Baseball All Star game ranked first. Fox carried it, giving that network a rare number one program.

ABC's Millionaire, ranked top for the past few weeks, was number two, four and five for the week of July 9-15 (for the Tues., Thurs. and Sun. episodes). The rest of the top 10 was ABC's Prime Time Thursday at number 3, with NBC's Dateline, CBS's Everybody Loves Raymond, ABC's 20/20 and NBC's The Weakest Link rounding out the list.

The top cable shows were WWF Entertainment, a consistent winner, followed by the Sunday Movies Frozen With Fear, Rush Hour and Legacy of Sin. Major league baseball and A&E's Original Movie also made the list.

Pay cable winners included Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, Arliss, Boxing After Dark and Battlefield Earth.

Entertainment Tonight was the top syndicated show, followed by Judge Joe Brown, Jeopardy, X Files and Stargate.
