MTV Networks said it has an agreement with "location-based" Foursquare to use its "social gaming tool" within multiple platforms, including on-air.
The deal involves integration on MTV's "Real World" and "Jersey Shore" and VH1's "Fantasia For Real."
MTVN said it will be the first in media to launch "Celebrity Mode," a Foursquare product that allows "friending celebrities." And it expects to build viewer interest in programming from it.
The product will allow users to "follow" MTV/VH1 talent. MTVN said it will offer "location-based sponsorship opportunities."
Kristin Frank, general manager at MTV and VH1 Digital, stated that the deal allows "a way to connect and get a behind-the-scenes look into the lives" of MTV and VH1 personalities "by finding out about their favorite hangouts, clubs and shops."
