Internet Radio Continues To Attract

MeasureCast reported yesterday that the top five Internet radio networks measured by MeasureCast streamed 62,551 more hours of entertainment last week than the top five networks did the week before.

In addition, the total time spent listening (TTSL) to a spectrum of Internet radio stations tracked by MeasureCast for the week of August 13-19 rose 4%, boosting the MeasureCast Internet Radio Index from 207 to 215. Listening to radio on-line has more than doubled since the company introduced the index in January.

The number one Internet radio music network for the week of August 13-19 was WarpRadio.com, which streamed a total of 412,325 hours. In second place was SurferNETWORK.com, with a TTSL of 304,863. CableMusic.com took third place with a TTSL of 225,856, while MEDIAmazing.com claimed fourth place with a TTSL of 128,194. Virgin Radio won fifth place with a TTSL of 127,735. Together, these groups streamed 1,198,973 hours of entertainment.

Nine of the MeasureCast Top 25T Internet radio broadcasters enjoyed an increase in audience size (or Cume), and 14 stations recorded an increase in the total number of hours streamed.

Other facts for the week of August 13-19:

-·80% of all listening occurred between 5 a.m. Pacific and 5 p.m. Pacific.

-·The peak listening hour was 11 a.m. Pacific, with 8.5% of the day's listening.

-·11% of the week's TTSL occurred over the weekend.

-·The peak listening day was Thursday, August 16 with 19% of all TTSL occurring on this day.

-·The largest single age group listening to Internet radio last week: 25-34 year-olds (29%).

-·56% of listeners were under 35; 27% were younger than 25, and 6% were over 55.

-·70% of listeners were men; 30% were women.

-·Top streaming nations include the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Australia, and France

-·California, Texas and New York, respectively, have the greatest number of people tuning in to Internet radio.
