ExactTarget Revenues Hit The Spot

Building on a strong 2009, email service provider ExactTarget said first-quarter revenues increased to about $29 million, up 37% compared to the same period a year ago. It said it has grown revenue quarter-over-quarter for 37 in a row.

Last year, revenues crossed the $100 million barrier for the first time.

In the January-March period, ExactTarget continued a run of acquisitions looking to expand its capabilities and footprint with the purchase of CoTweet, which advises companies in maximizing Twitter. New clients and those where contracts were extended included Papa John's, Jones Lang LaSalle and Ulta Cosmetics.

CEO Scott Dorsey, in a statement, made reference to the company's aims to broaden its services, saying "we are creating a complete interactive marketing hub to provide organizations a single source to connect with clients across all interactive channels."

In the first quarter, ExactTarget hired 70 more employees bringing its work force to 600-plus, and debuted a Social Media Lab in San Francisco.
