With President Bush now set to address a joint session of Congress Thursday, CBS has been forced to delay the one-hour, live season finale of "Big Brother 2" by an hour.
The finale was slated to air at 9 p.m. -- the exact hour of Bush's speech. CBS now plans to air the speech and a truncated edition of "48 Hours" between 9 and 10 p.m., with the "BB2" wrap-up at 10 p.m. A repeat of "CSI" is slated for 8 p.m.
The schedule will be the same on the West Coast, but with a full-length "48 Hours" at 9 p.m.
Meanwhile, the WB hopes the third time's a charm for its Friday night premieres, which have now been pushed back to Oct. 5. The network originally scheduled the premieres of "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" and newcomers "Maybe It's Me, " "Reba" and "Raising Dad" for Sept. 14, until the president's National Day of Remembrance bumped those bows.
The WB then moved its Friday debuts to this week -- until the two-hour industry-wide telethon "America: A Tribute to Heroes" forced execs to change the date once again.
The WB decided to avoid next Friday, Sept. 28, because the Big Four networks debut that night. Instead, the WB will schedule another run of "Sabrina Down Under" -- even though the TV movie aired just a week ago.
Also in WB scheduling news, the WB's marketing department is quickly putting together a half-hour fall preview show to air this Friday at 8:30 p.m. prior to the "America" telethon. And the WB also is expected to simulcast TNT's Oct. 2 John Lennon charity tribute.
"Come Together: A Night for John Lennon's Words and Music" will be telecast that night live from Radio City Music Hall. The WB's Tuesday series, which premiere Oct. 9, aren't affected.
