Were you in New York's Time Square on Tuesday?

If you didn't and you're over, say, 20, you're in luck. You missed having to slog through a mosh pit of fan boys and girls gathered by the hundreds to watch singer Katy Perry perform with her band. Katy was in a hot pink skirt made of what looked like neoprene. There was also a cooking demonstration by Mario Batali.

Oh, and the 2011 Jetta, which VW unveiled for the first time in North America.

The concert and unveiling happened in a white Volkswagen-branded "Urban Oasis" stage shaped a bit like a turtle shell in the middle of the square near the TKTS booth. Also on hand were North American CEO Stefan Jacoby and chief designer Klaus Bischoff.
