Detroit Auto Show To Stick With Two Press Days

  • June 22, 2010
Seven months before the North American International Auto Show, the show's promoters and organizers are talking about what it will and won't be.

The Detroit show's chairman Barron Meade said in a press conference that the goal of next year's show was to build on "The steady resurgence of the automotive industry."

The show, in which 40 vehicles were unveiled and 5,000 international journalists from more than 70 countries attended will also benefit from changes to Cobo Hall, which has been too compact for the show in recent years.

Meade and vice chair Bill Perkins said the Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority, which helped create multiple structural changes to the Cobo Center venue, will oversee additional enhancements for 2011. Meade said press days, which were cut from three to two days last year, will remain a two-day affair.
