Full-sized pickup trucks drink gas but have been immune to the vicissitudes of fuel pricing and trends. That's because it's hard to replace a pickup truck with, say, a crossover.
Also, such vehicles are strong sellers in markets where buyers simply have to have a pickup truck, as much for what they represent as for what they can do.
There are six nameplates out there now: in addition to the F-150, there's Dodge Ram, Chevrolet Silverado (and sibling GMC Sierra), Nissan's Titan and Toyota's Tundra. In second to fifth place were Dodge Ram, Chevrolet Silverado, Toyota Tundra, and Nissan Titan.
