Coke Partners With WNBA For Parks Program

  • July 29, 2010
Coca-Cola has signed a multiyear marketing partnership with the Womens National Basketball Association supporting Live Positively, a Coca-Cola corporate goodwill effort. The effort is also an extension of another just-launched program from the Atlanta-based beverage giant, "America Is Your Park."

The company and the WNBA will host WNBA FIT Clinics this summer at community parks in the U.S. The clinics teach fitness skills and drills while stressing the importance of health and nutrition.  The "America Is Your Park" is meant to get people away from the flat-screen TVs and DS's and into their local parks. The effort with WNBA began on Thursday with WNBA FIT launch events at parks in New York City and Washington, D.C.  They will continue through the summer.

Players from the WNBA -- Marie Ferdinand-Harris (L.A. Sparks), Taj McWilliams-Franklin (New York Liberty), Helen Darling (San Antonio Silver Stars), Swin Cash (Seattle Storm), and Tamika Catchings (Indiana Fever) -- serving as ambassadors to the program will be in videos encouraging people to participate.  The videos will be on LivePositively.com, the WNBA YouTube channel, and the WNBA Facebook page.
