Yahoo Loses Two Search Vets

Perhaps marking the end of an era for Yahoo, the company just lost two top search veterans: VP and editor-in-chief Srinija Srinivasan, who is leaving to devote more time to his family; and VP of Search Marketing Tim Mayer. "The jump surprised Google, something that Tim had carefully helped plan." By September of 2005, Google announced that it was again the most comprehensive search engine. Meanwhile, Mayer's resume closely mirrors the evolution of search. In 2002, he joined FAST Search, which was acquired a year later by Overture, which, in turn, was acquired a year after that by Yahoo.
