Seneca To Buy Frozen Fruit, Vegetable Companies

Seneca Foods Corp. (Marion, N.Y.) announced that it will acquire Unilink, LLC and an affiliated company, Lebanon Valley Cold Storage, LP. 

Unilink (a subsidiary of Pennsylvania Food Group, LLC with 2009 revenue of about $65 million) and Lebanon primarily sell frozen fruits and vegetables in the packaged private label retail and foodservice channels, according to Refrigerated & Frozen Foods.

Seneca Foods is among the largest U.S. processors of canned fruits and vegetables, with products sold under brands including Libby's, Stokely's, READ, Aunt Nellie's Farm Kitchen and Seneca, as well as through private label.  It also produces canned and frozen vegetables for General Mills Operations' Green Giant brand.
