Choice Hotels Launches Music Initiative

Choice Hotels

Choice Hotels is launching Choice Hotels Music, an online initiative that gives artists exposure while generating donations to a variety of non-profit organizations.

Consumers can download selected songs for a limited time for free at ChoiceHotels.com. With each download, a financial donation will be made to a featured cause or charity. Choice Hotels Music has already begun producing 10 songs that will be matched to appropriate charities and there are plans to produce more songs on an ongoing basis.

The company is publicizing the effort on its homepage, via social media such as Facebook and Twitter and by email to the over 9 million Choice Privileges rewards program members, according to Heather Soule, a Choice Hotels spokesperson. On Aug. 28, Choice will host a special block party concert in New Orleans featuring the first artist featured as part of the effort.

"Holly Montgomery will do a live performance of 'My Brother's Keeper' for 5,000-plus people," Soule tells Marketing Daily.

This event culminates the efforts of Choice Hotels and Rebuilding Together's Fifty for Five initiative to rehabilitate 50 homes in New Orleans on the five-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The effort moves Rebuilding Together closer to its pledge of completing 1,000 homes in the Gulf.

Downloads of Montgomery's song will generate donations for the national nonprofit Rebuilding Together and its efforts to help the Gulf and New Orleans continue to rebuild. Consumers can download the song for free for 30 days from Aug. 25 through Sept. 24. With each song download, Choice Hotels will donate $1 -- up to $10,000 -- to Rebuilding Together.

The Choice Hotels Music initiative enables Choice Hotels to pursue its philanthropic causes and promote its brands while leveraging and maximizing the power of its customer database, its marketing and distribution system, and its online presence and eMarketing strategies, according to the company.
