Jamba Juice Expands Give-Back Program

Jamba Juice

Jamba Juice is expanding its "Sip to Support" 10% give-back program with a swipe card fund-raising program.

The Emeryville, Calif.-based specialty retailer is building on its commitment to support schools and community organizations that encourage health and wellness. Timed to coincide with back-to-school fund-raising drives, the program provides a year-round fund-raising tool for schools and community organizations to raise money for their local priorities.

When organizations sign up to participate in the program, Jamba issues them swipe cards, which they distribute to their supporters. Every time a supporter uses their swipe card for a Jamba Juice purchase, Jamba Juice gives 10% of the purchase back to the participating organization.

Susan Shields, chief marketing officer for Jamba Juice, tells Marketing Daily: "This is really a great way for Jamba Juice to do our part to help build healthier communities and allows our customers to feel good that their purchases are making a positive difference."

During the past year, Jamba Juice has launched several Sip to Support programs including one with the National PTA to support healthy schools, the National Gardening Association to support nutrition education, and the WNBA and Active.com to promote fitness and physical activity.

"The response has been very positive, so we wanted to offer the program to other community-based organizations -- youth sports leagues, after-school programs to name a few -- to have greater impact by creating an easy, fun and healthy way to feel good about giving back," according to a Jamba Juice spokesperson. Program registration and information can be found on www.jambajuice.com.

Jamba has sponsored "Jamba Jump Day" events across the country to help inspire people in fun and exciting ways to become more active. At its inaugural "Jamba Jump Day" event earlier this year, the company helped activate more than 88,000 children and adults to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most people jumping or skipping rope at the same time. Through its School Lunch Program, Jamba is helping provide all-fruit smoothies to schools at reduced and fixed prices.

This couldn't be closer a program to a brand's DNA. There is a huge opportunity for brands to run similar programs across North America.
