'Newsweek' Expected To Lay Off 30% of Staff

  • September 22, 2010
Daniel Harman -- son of 92-year-old stereo equipment mogul Sidney Harman, who is purchasing Newsweek -- has joined the staff as a part-timer, reports the New York Post. The younger Harman is an MBA student at Columbia. Staffers, meantime, are waiting to hear about layoffs on Friday. As many as 30% are expected to receive pink slips. Former editor Jon Meacham left at the end of the summer; political reporter Howard Fineman exited recently for The Huffington Post.
