Online Actions in September Show Increased Purchase Intent for Air Travel to International Destinations

Based on analysis of over 160 million unique consumers across the BlueKai Exchange, the BlueKai Pulse report provides a snapshot view on popular shopping intent activity across auto, travel and retail verticals this past month. September shows a significant decrease in online purchase intent for hotels & lodging to coastal beach towns, which is indicative of the end of summer and summer vacations. Meanwhile intent for international air travel dominates 4 out of the top 5 travel gainers, perhaps reflective of an uptake in holiday travel planning. Retail activity is marked by the Halloween season and retail products for the winter months.

TRAVEL
As fall leaves appear around the U.S., there's been a significant increase in purchase intent for air travel to international destinations which may be reflective of holiday travel planning. 4 out of the 5 top travel gainers are dominated by international air travel. The top gainers in travel is led by air travel to Sao Paulo, Brazil and Ahmedabad, India. Travel intent actions also show a significant decrease in visits to coastal beach towns on the Eastern Seaboard.

RETAIL
In preparation for the Halloween season, the top 10 gainers in retail are led by in-market shoppers of costumes for boys and girls. In keeping with the change in seasons and cooler weather, there has been significant in-market purchase trends in snow blowers, cold weather gear like hats and Uggs, and heaters and furnaces.

AUTO
Scion tC led the top 10 auto gainers with 21.37% more purchase intent than the previous month. The jump in this small affordable car may be due to the rollout of the new Scion tC 2011, which will be available in October.
