Dish Network To Carry TBS, TNT Online

The-Closer

Dish Network will provide its subscribers with online access to TNT and TBS content in an on-demand format for free. Programs from both cable networks will be available to customers within 24 hours after an episode airs.

TNT programming includes "The Closer," "Rizzoli and Isles" and Leverage," with "Lopez Tonight" and "Meet the Browns" on TBS. Other Turner networks, including Cartoon Network and truTV, will be available online by the end of the year. TBS and TNT are both Time Warner companies.

Dish Network customers can access Turner's online programming directly on TBS (tbs.com/tveverywhere) and TNT (tnt.tv/tveverywhere) sites, as well as Dish's online site: DISHOnline.com, through a log-in process.

For Time Warner, its deal with Dish -- in addition to agreements with Comcast and Verizon -- provides "TV Everywhere" access to roughly 40 million pay-TV subscribers. Dish Network has more than 14.3 million satellite TV customers.

Jeremy Legg, senior vice president of business development and multiplatform distribution for TBS, stated that the commitment to TV Everywhere "moves us closer to the reality of television programming available on demand to consumers on the platform of their choice." Time Warner Chief Executive Jeff Bewkes is a major advocate of TV Everywhere.

Such cross-platform deals are gaining favor; traditional TV is worried that consumers will drop their cable or satellite subscriptions for online viewing options.
