Mattel says it is launching an eight-episode online reality series called "Genuine Ken: The Search for the Great American Boyfriend," scheduled to premiere in January on Hulu. In the 22-minute episodes, eight young men, ages 21 to 30, will compete for the title of "The Great American Boyfriend."
The show will include such elimination challenges as a surfing competition, talent show and fashion challenge, as well as celebrity guest judges. The company says the series "leverages the popularity ignited by the appearance of Ken in Disney Pixar's "Toy Story 3" and invites consumers to experience the Barbie(R) brand in a whole new way."
Interesting evaluation criteria. I'd suggest a potential Ken be challenged on his intelligence, sensitivity to others and commitment to social responsibility.
